Our February rides in the Blackwater State Forest near Milton, Florida were highly successful for more than 10 years … and briefly interrupted by the bad hurricanes the past two years. We had to move the ride to Heart of Dixie until sufficient repairs were made …. We returned to Blackwater last February and we are honored to be going back. For those who have not been there we camp at the Cold Water Recreation Area in the Blackwater State Forest. A beautiful camp and in this brochure, we will tell you all about the camp , prices, trails, etc. |
READ THIS PARAGRAPH CAREFULLY Back at Blackwater …in all the years we have ridden there … the rides were huge and we had to primitive camp across the road …this year … we will fill the electric park and there will be NO Camping across the road and up the hill. Every one must be in the main electric camp. This means that everyone must pre-register so that we know when the camp is full. It should not be a problem. When you receive this brochure … get it back to us and we willregister each application by number. |

Let’s get the old crowd back that made this ride for years. |

NOW, LET’S TALK ABOUT OUR "WINTER VACATION TRAIL RIDE" IN THE PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA THIS FEBRUARY A winter trail ride, wagons included … in the Panhandle of Florida … with electrical hookups and stalls! Almost a dream come true for most of us who just do not have the weather to ride in February. The National Trail Ride Association is proud to invite you to the Panhandle of Florida for four days of trail riding, wagon driving, family friendship and fun. We will camp at the Coldwater Recreation area which is part of the historic 183,000 acre Blackwater River Forest. The camp is superb - 55 Campsites with electricity, water and a place to grill out … 60 barn stalls and picnic tables. There are also 50 uncovered stalls. Coldwater recreation area also consists of heated bathrooms and showers plus a dump station and kennels for your dogs. We should tell you that there is a camp leash law and no dogs are allowed on the trails. The reason being is that the thousands of acres you will ride are dotted with plots for the abundant deer and birds. As you cross the bridge into Coldwater, you will notice a large beautiful creek. Many of the electric campsites are backed up to the creek. The entire camp is well laid out where everyone is close to all activities … and we have plenty of activity … once the ride day is over. I know that many of you are thinking … "The weather in the Panhandle of Florida can be a little tricky".… and you are right. Just bring a warm jacket in case it is cool a day or two. But, please, DO NOT bring electric heaters. They blow all breakers then everyone loses power in the electric areas. Use propane heaters if your camper does not have regular heat. Normal weather is high 40’s evenings and 70’s days. All camping areas are easily accessible to the pavilion and party areas. |
